The McCormick Area Veterans Association (MAVA)
The McCormick Area Veterans Association (MAVA) is located in Savannah Lakes Village, SC, but also serves the area’s neighboring counties. Honorably discharged members from all service branches are welcome. There’s no rank in MAVA. As suggested by our motto, “Vets For Vets," our purpose is to promote fellowship & assistance among service veterans, immediate family members & survivors in our greater community. We’re also associated with the Long Cane NSDAR chapter.

Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of Independence
Honoring McCormick County's & United States' Veterans
July 1 (Wed.) 2026 (Rain Date July 2)

9:15 a.m. - Entirely FREE Event Opens with RevWar Era Displays/Demos: Candle Wicking Embroidery, Continental Military, Quill Writing, Regulator (Backcountry Justice), Sewing, Stone Cutting, Woodwind Instruments; Author Book Signing (Amphitheater) - Open Air Artillery/Cannon & Flintlock Firing Demonstrations, Period Musician - Children Activities/Kids Patriotic Dessert Plus Info Booths (MACK Patio)
10 a.m. - Formal Ceremony Begins, Honoring All Veterans & Those Currently Serving in the Military as well as Their Families, Patriotic Songs, Specifically Recognize McCormick County’s Revolutionary War Veterans by way of a Roll Call/Bell Ringing followed by a 21-Gun Salute & the Playing of Taps
Upon Conclusion of the Ceremony around 11 a.m., Complimentary Refreshments will be served while Demonstrations & Displays continue until approximately 11:30
